An austere granite block sits right at the corner of Dundas and Claremont. This is a vacant lot on a bustling stretch – most of the site is an empty parking lot.
The intervention hides behind the existing mass, creating two outdoor spaces in an unusual context. Large awnings reach outward to protect both gardens. At these exterior walls, the soffit flat soffit continues inward as a flat ceiling, creating soft portals between dining inside and dining outside.
